Participating Startups
LISUS - Sustainable materials for a net zero world
Title: Leveraging satellite data
Abstract: "LISUS Technologies Inc. is a technology-driven and impact-focused startup created to supply strategic minerals for electric vehicles with solid environmental responsibility, social impact, and risk mitigation.
We leverage Alchemist, a surface-to-subsurface hydrogeological exploration architecture that uses AI and Machine Learning algorithms to characterize brownfields geostatistically and to predict the areas with Lithium-rich brines, allowing to reduce water intensity and energy use. "
Technical Challenge: We need to further our understanding of the AI techniques that we can apply to Alchemist. We are particularly interested in Inverse Problems, Image Reconstruction, and processing of satellite imagery.
Rhoman Aerospace - Autonomy for drones and robotic systems
Title: Machine Memory & Machine Vision - Image Feature Sets, Fast-Recall and Lookup, and Autonomy
Abstract: Rhoman Aerospace is developing UAV autonomy systems that use visual feature tracking to ensure stable operations when GPS is blocked or not connected - these enable continuity of operations and needed added safety systems to ensure the drones can complete their mission despite powerline interference with GPS, and most importantly, have the needed safety redundant system to trust them to fly overhead in future cities.
Technical Challenge: Feature-set extraction for low data volume comparison of detected object to known feature-sets extracted from known/tagged images and 3D models of objects/areas. Besides sparse matrix/low data volume object recognition/detection systems, we're also interested in collaborating around feature-set/feature-set comparison, to investigate different methods of comparing 3D point clouds with stored 3D spatial maps. We're also interested in discussing deploying/testing on our 3ft octocopter 20lb UAV or our 5ft x 9ft 200lb hexacopter UAV.
Hydroplane - The flight plan to emission-free aviation
Title: Hydrogen fuel cell technology for aviation
Abstract: Hydrogen fuel cell technology has incredible potential for aviation. Pound for pound, it offers considerably more power and endurance than batteries when powering an electric engine, with zero carbon emissions and no battery charging downtime. This alternative fuel is gaining traction in the automobile industry, but current solutions there don’t meet the unique safety, size, and weight requirements for aviation.
Hydroplane aims to change all that. This California-based company is making waves as it designs a modular hydrogen fuel cell powerplant from the ground up for single-engine aviation. Initially designed to replace engines of up to 200 hp, the product’s design can be expanded to provide more than 1 MW of power.
Technical Challenge: Green Hydrogen infrastructure cost and availability. Fuel Cell thermal management and durability. Regulatory challenges for new technology in aviation
Pulse360 - No-code automation for communications
Title: Text to match personality style using AI/NLP
Abstract: Pulse360 has created an outgoing email client for professionals to communicate with clients.
Technical Challenge: Help us think through how to build an AI/NLP model to help the writer compose communications that match the personality style of the end user.
